Learning Support Program
At Chandler Park Primary we have a well developed Learning Support Program including a Full time Speech Pathologist. The Learning Support team consists of a group of teachers, Speech Therapy Assistants (STA), classroom aides and a Speech Pathologist that provide additional support for identified students in a variety of areas. Support is provided on an individual or group basis and can be undertaken through withdrawal from the classroom or as support within the classroom. The programs are individualised to suit the individual needs of the child.
Specialist Services- Speech Pathology Program
The school’s full time Speech Pathologist provides assessment, intervention and support for students who have difficulty in the areas of speech (articulation), language, phonological awareness, literacy, social skills, fluency and voice. The Speech Pathology program includes a prep screening program that assesses all preps upon entry to school and identifies students who are at risk and may require additional support or further assessment.
Oral Language Program
An Oral Language Program is conducted in the Junior School area (Prep-2) each week. Parents and Learning Support Team members assist the teachers in the classroom to facilitate small group activities to target student’s oral language skills including listening, speaking, phonological awareness and social skills. This program allows students to learn and consolidate specific skills and build confidence to interact and share their knowledge with their peers and adults.
