The Visual Arts Program at Chandler Park is an engaging and stimulating hand-on approach to learning. Students participate in a one hour weekly lesson, where they are given the opportunity to explore different materials and develop skills in a variety of mediums. Our aim is to encourage students to express themselves, explore new ideas, invent, imagine and create in a safe and nurturing environment.
Students are introduced to the work of famous artists and art movements throughout history and gain a critical understanding of the world through art. They learn that art and artists have a valuable place in our society and in their community. Students also learn through reflecting on their own art work and evaluating and interpreting the work of their peers.
The program covers;
- Modelling and Clay work
- Threads & Textiles
Lessons are sequential and build on student’s skills in previous lessons, culminating into a unit of work which often extends student’s classroom work and Inquiry units.
Student art work is regularly on display throughout our school. Students are also given the opportunity to showcase their work to their families and their community through events such as our Chandler Park Primary School Art Show, The Dandenong Show, the Zart Art Student Gallery, and The Noble Park Art Show.
