Music

In Term two, students in all year groups will attend music with Mr Kant once a week.

Prep

During term two, students in Prep will be participating in singing and playing activities that will help them to tell the difference between beat and rhythm.They will also be introduced to graphic notation to learn about high/low and long/short sounds in music.

Year 1/2
During term two, students in year 1-2 will practice and perform music using pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments, learnt through reading musical notation.They will use iPads to record music ideas and performances and learn basic keyboard skills.

Year 3/4
During term two, students will plan and rehearse music for a live group performance.They will also practice reading musical notation as they rehearse and perform music. Students will be introduced to basic keyboard skills.

Year 5/6
During term two, students will use musical notation and technology (iPad application) to record music ideas.They will provide and respond to feedback to refine their group performances. Students will be introduced to basic keyboard skills.
Music News
Choir:
This term, Mr. Kant will be commencing Junior and Senior choirs. The Junior Choir will include students from Foundation to Level 2.
The Senior Choir will include students from Level 3 to Level 6. A typical choir session involves singing folk songs, followed by skill building activities such as building up tone quality, warmups, sight singing in harmony and working on range and pitch control.
The remaining time will be spent on working on concert music. Students participating in choir will be in a positive and supportive atmosphere filled with joy, humour, fun challenges whilst at the same time motivating and inspiring.
